Children enthralled by Beethoven and Stravinsky

We thoroughly enjoyed putting on another fantastic symphony orchestra concert recently, at Hackney Empire on 21st May 2015, for 450 children from eight primary schools in Hackney and Tower Hamlets. The children were enthralled by exciting performances of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony (1st & 2nd movements) and Stravinsky’s Firebird (Infernal Dance, Berceuse, and Finale).

It was a brilliant opportunity for children to hear this incredible music live – including pieces from the BBC’s Ten Pieces initiative – and performed so brilliantly by the Apollo musicians. We can’t wait for the next concerts in Kingston and Hackney on 29th June and 2nd July!

Apollo Music Projects on the BBC

We’re very excited to announce that Apollo Music Projects will be featured on an upcoming episode of BBC2’s Artsnight programme! Presented by AMP supporter Armando Iannucci (creator of The Thick Of It and Veep), the episode will focus on “high culture” art forms, including classical music – asking why some people feel excluded from it, and why classical music matters. We’re so pleased that our work in improving children’s access to classical music has been recognised – tune in to BBC2 on Friday 20th March 2015 at 11pm, to see us in action at Bruce Grove Primary School in Haringey!

Thank you to Arts Council England!
