Bursaries
The Apollo Music Projects Instrumental Bursary Scheme is an exciting strand of activity designed to extend the legacy of our work by offering free music tuition to children in our partner schools, aimed at children who have been inspired by working with Apollo Music Projects, who would benefit from individual lessons, and would not be able to do this without our support.

Children in the bursary scheme benefit from individual lessons or lessons in pairs, progressing further and more quickly than they would in a larger group. Making music becomes a positive force in their lives as they gain confidence and proficiency in playing an instrument.
Currently, 57 pupils across 38 bursaries are taking part in the scheme (2025-26) and we continue to receive very positive feedback from instrumental tutors and headteachers. We are delighted to have expanded the opportunity to include secondary schools, supporting children to continue their lessons once they have finished year 6.
In addition to lessons, the programme includes in-school and external performance opportunities. Pupils have performed in school assemblies, at the Hackney Music Service Instrumental Festival, and in December 2025 students helped us launch our Big Give Christmas Challenge campaign, playing alongside Apollo musicians, hosted by CMS UK at Canon Place.
“The Apollo instrumental Bursary Scheme has been very successful in this school. The children are very engaged with music and up for taking up challenges and opportunities. I would definitely like to see the scheme carry on next year; the children are doing so well.”
